High Wood Pass November 8th, 2020
Mikey, Henry, Jen, Katie and I met at the summit of High Wood Pass in Kananaskis AB at 10 am. The early season snow and a winter storm warning had us all excited to check out the skiing. For most of us, this was a new zone to check out.
From the parking lot, a quick skin drops you out into a bowl that has a huge amount of options to ski. There are other places we thought about going or pushing further into the next bowl but, with poor visibility and variable snow quality, we decided to make the most of our skiing getting three great laps in the closest bowl.
I believe the area we skied is called Grizzly Col. With a decent amount of vert, we got three laps in and some great turns. An ice crust was about 6cm below a nice layer of fresh snow which hid the rocks and allowed us to get some great turns.
