The Rad Shoots January 10, 2021

Jen Goodale and I headed out to ski the rad shoots Sunday morning. We are both new to the snowmobile game and are pretty excited by the access it gives us to ski new lines that otherwise weren’t as easily accessible to us.

The rad shoots are located up a popular backcountry ski zone close to Fernie BC, near Harvey Pass. This year the road isn’t plowed, and so access requires sledding in just over 30kms. After a few new sledder kook moves, we managed to make it to the start of the skin track.

Jen had been up to the basin below the shoots before and we had betta from a few others that had skied the shoots before. In our opinion, we took a good approach and made the final boot pack to the shoot. Deciding not to traverse to the more picturesque shoots as the boot packing was becoming a little risky.

A great ski down with some fun turns on stable snow leads us to some fun features on the ski-out. After a little bit of adventure skiing, we made our way back to the sleds and proceeded back to town. All in all a great day full of adventure and fun.
